Attended Luther College, Decorah, IA...four years Army Security Agency in mostly then West Germany...graduated from Augsburg College, Communications and English degrees. Worked years John Deere Co. Traveled out of Madison, WI (been there since..38 yrs). Worked for U.S. Postal Service...retired from. Presently am Tour Guide at WI State Capitol. Have been writing...wrote novel (trying to sell-just got my latest email beginning...Dear Ed), and am beginning follow-up novel. Wife, Kathy, and I enjoy traveling around the country. Have time share in Lake Tahoe and like to travel the Eastern Seaboard, heck, all over. Just visited Tahoe and six Ntl parks in Southwest over three weeks in June/July. Have good friends from U.S. Army days we see and travel with frequently. Have spent late summer week with them last few years at Lake Okoboji in NW IA. We have two offspring, one grandchild each...so far. Look forward to seeing classmates from, what, a zillion years ago?

School Story

Our senior year, home room was 3rd floor..business class with 40 guys and one gal. Sorry can't remember her name, but she was of course voted Home Room President by all the guys. We had Mr. Marr as teacher, who died of heart attack over Christmas vacation. His replacement was a fellow named Bill Hagstrom. He was young and inexperienced. Had been greyhound bus driver. Somebody made up a song about him to the tune of "Abigail Beecher, History Teacher". Not real proud to say we terrorized him. Guys would start saying, "Huh" while Hagstrom was lecturing and pretty soon huhs were sounding all around the room. Simultaneously, we started inching our desks toward our now wide-eyed teacher until we were virtually on top of him. Also, we had a so-to-speak classmate(junior?), we dubbed surfer Ken, who disappeared during late winter/early spring with dad's car and went to California to surf...ran out of money and sold car for song...eventually came back, and to class, and was known to take off his shoes and socks and pick his toes...geez, you cannot make these things up. But, one positive thing...we created "Room 328 Business and Higher Learning Club"..mostly a hoot, but we came up with the button- ED1NA....and sold many. I think it was Chuck Bredesen's idea. Sorry he has left us.

Lee (Alan) Brown is listed as residence unknown. A few years ago Lee looked me up (in Madison), called to say he would be in town. My wife, Kathy (Mpls Roosevelt H.S., '64), and I took Lee and his wife to dinner and we guys remembered old times. I had, of course, known Lee in h. s., and we reacquainted at Luther College in Decorah, IA. I am sorry to remember Lee and I had shared one adventure in the woods above a corn field near campus, one which involved lime vodka, a particular libation I have chosen to circumnavigate ever since.

Sadly, Lee Brown, a good fellow, passed away a couple years ago, as reported in a Luther College alum magazine. I believe but am not certain he succumbed to cancer. Some of you might like to know,

Ed
