I knew Don (or Donny as he was called then) since we were elementary school age. He lived in our neighborhood, though several blocks away. The kids in the neighborhood would often get together to play outside in warm weather and cold, and my recollection is that he was particularly enthusiastic during snowball fights, crack the whip, and raft building for 9 Mile Creek adventures. I'm sure he was equally enthusiastic as he charted his life's course. I hope life treated him well.

I was looking forward to talking with Don.  We used to play in the band at Moon Valley and at some pizza joint on Lyndale and about 58th street. He was an excellent guitar player and a good friend that would show me no mercy in our late night poker games after the gig.
