Rick was a good friend from childhood through High School and beyond. We went to the same church as little kids through High School every Sunday (Normandale Lutheran) and were confirmed together. Rick lived just a couple of blocks away and of course all of the family vehicles were serviced at WALLY’S Station. Wally and Rick knew pretty much everything about cars. My wife Candy who passed away last year knew Rick as well. My condolences to his family.

Sorry to hear this. He was a great guy and good friend back when we raced go carts at Normandale Church! He knew his engines, for sure!

My family always went to Wallys.  Whenever I was in town to visit with my mom, I'd stop by Wallys and often saw Rick. In my mom's later years Rick would do a "house call" to help her with her car.  Such a nice man and family.   My condolences to the family.

Not only was Rick a classmate but was the best mechanic a guy could have. Rick took care of of both Carol and my cars for 40 + years at Wally's. I think he charged me about 30% of the time. Quiet Rick was a wonderful guy, may his children treasure his memory.

I didn't live to far from Wallys Service Station at 66th and Woodale. Rick had a 50 Pontiac that was converted to a straight stick transmission in high school. He would drive it by my house on Concord Avenue almost every day after high school. I enjoyed that car. When I visited Minneapolis every year I would drop in to see Rick at his service station. He was always a bit reserved but car guys could be that way. I would tell him what I was working on from my collection and he always enjoyed my stories. He enjoyed his racing and I enjoyed my collecting and restoring cars. When he sold the station I missed that part of my Minneapolis visits. I hope Rick is looking down and watching what I am doing these days with my cars. Rest in peace
