John Edward Carlstrom, 78, of Plymouth, MN, passed away on August 28, 2025 after a heroic 21 month battle with metastatic melanoma.
Born on September 20, 1946, John was an amazingly devoted and exceptionally loving husband to his best friend and soulmate, Aura, for 26 years. He also dearly loved his son, Matthew as well as his canine children: Murphy, Sly, and Axel.
Everyone that John met recognized that he was an incredible human being. He was a third generation jeweler who was renowned for his excellent craftsmanship and his exceptional rapport with his clients.
John and Aura met at Northwest Health Club and shared a deep love of physical fitness. John was a lifelong swimmer and also enjoyed activities such as group fitness classes and obstacle course races such as the Tough Mudder. In his later years, he even completed a triathlon and qualified for the National Triathlon Championships at his very first event.
John is survived by his incredible and forever devoted wife, Aura, son Matthew (Evren and Eddie), sisters Ginny (Charlie) and Anne, his cherished "fluffy muffins" Sly and Axel, an amazing circle of close friends who John always considered family, and many other relatives who will mourn his passing.
A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, his wife requests that donations be made to the Mayo Clinic Melanoma Research Program or the Bearded Collie Club of America.
