In Memory

James Scott Abernethy

James Scott Abernethy

His wife, Nancy, informed us of his death upon receiving the postcards mailed out regarding the reunion.

November 14, 1999

The cause of Scott's death was cancer.......non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

He was in the Marine Corps from 1964-67

After his discharge from the Marines, he attended the University of Minnesota

Scott tried on many careers (insurance agent, stockbrocker, along with a few others) before settling on construction management. He was Vice President, Construction for Keewaydin Development Group, Inc. at the time of his death.

We were married for 30 years, have a daughter Kristen, who is now 35,  and a 2 year old granddaughter.
I still live in our home in Deephaven, MN.

We traveled a lot during our years together and had many adventures along the way, so there are a lot of happy, funny memories.

I do hope that you have a great reunion,
Nancy Abernethy

Scott passed away 15 years ago and nobody knew it.  Maybe he had moved out of town, or maybe

he just didn't have ties to anyone that he went to school with.

.I knew Scott briefly, he always liked a good party!  Always laughing, he just seemed older than any of

the rest of us, but a nice person.

Rest in peace, Scott.

Dear Nancy,  Thank you so much for taking the time to share your lives with those of us who knew your husband in high school.  It put a smile on my face when I saw his picture.  My prayers are with you and your family.  I teach Pre-K so I am especially happy you are a grandma.  Sincerely, Nancy Axelson Williams

Nancy, I remember Scott as wild child with a great car. Once, I remember that he drove his car into a house on a street near my home.  My mother and I were driving by and saw it right after it happened.  He certainly had a adventursome life.  I left Edina after my junior year, so I lost touch with many.  I wish you and your children well.
