Leslie A. Carlson (Hanson)

Leslie Ann Carlson Hanson, 78, of Wayzata, died December 19, 2024. She was a devoted educator, including 40+ years in the Wayzata Public Schools. A lifelong learner, Leslie graduated from Cornell College, and over the course of her career also earned a master's degree and PhD. She was a loyal subscriber to the Guthrie Theater and Pen Pals, and enjoyed attending many other lectures and events in the Twin Cities. Her favorite destination was the North Shore of Lake Superior, where she spent many happy days with family. Leslie appreciated good food and was always up for trying a new restaurant. She was also a talented cook and gracious host. Her kind and generous spirit was felt by the many people she befriended, creating enduring relationships that were treasured by those fortunate to have entered her sphere. Her inquisitive nature made anyone she spoke with feel both seen and valued. She will be deeply missed by daughters Lindsay Grady (Nick Grady) and Jennifer Hanson (Matt Thell), cousins Ann Bjorklund and Scott Winchester (Laurie Winchester), and uncle Morris Zempel (Connie Zempel), along with countless other family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the N.C. Little Hospice and Park Nicollet Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during Leslie's final days. Many thanks also to Dr. Rachel Lerner and the entire staff of the Frauenshuh Cancer Center. Memorials to the Guthrie Theater, Friends of the Hennepin County Library, N.C. Little Hospice, or organization of the donor's choosing. A celebration of life will be planned for spring 2025.
