Shideman, Jeffrey Reiner Dr. Jeffrey Reiner Shideman born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on May 4th, 1946 to Mrs. Margaret and Dr. Frederick Shideman, died peacefully surrounded by family on April 9th, 2025 at his home in Edina, Minnesota. Jeff is preceded in death by his father Frederick, mother Margaret, sister Ethel Gustafson and brother-in-law Jeff Gustafson. Jeff grew up in a loving and full household with his brother Fred (Kathy), and sisters Ethel (Jeff) and Liz (Randy). He served briefly in the Army Reserve before attending the University of Minnesota for his undergraduate degree. Jeff and Pat met at her freshman welcome week dance while attending the university. Thereafter at the University of Minnesota, Jeff completed his PhD in pharmacology where his father had served as a respected chair of the department. In his long and successful career, Jeff was a published researcher and specialized in nephrology approving new medical devices for dialysis patients. Jeff loved spending time with family carpooling his sons and their teammates in the Eurovan to sporting events and tournaments, taking walks and bike rides with his wife, and making regular trips to the family cabin on Madeline Island in Lake Superior. There was always a project to be completed at the cabin and he passed this work ethic on to his sons while adding to the family history and tradition of the property. At home, he was known for his frequent drives in his sports cars to McDonald's for a Coke and cheeseburger, followed by a car wash. Jeff was an exceptionally devoted husband and father, and son to his late parents. There was no hesitation in him to help those in need and he was selfless in his diligence to care for others. Jeff was loved and will be truly missed. Jeff is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia Ann Shideman, sons Jeffrey Anton (Heather) and Kristoffer Robert (Leslie), and grandsons Kade and Finn.
