I was fortunate to jump from the Buzzette sports staff to the MN
Daily and then four daily newspapers including the Mpls. Tribune for 13 years and the St. Paul Pioneer Press for 20. Had a choice seat in the press box for some outstanding events, met some wonderful people, ran dozens of marathons all over the world, watched the sun rise on Lake Superior, set over Lake Calhoun ... and a few other memorable places. ... Currently live in Mpls., but not allowed to change that setting, for some reason pertaining to my technical inexpertise.

School Story

It was one of those Minnesota winter days when rain preceded a cold snap and Bill Thomas knocked on my door, wearing hockey skates and an unstoppable smile. I was below-average (at best) as a skater, but Bill and I skated from Morningside all over northern Edina and back, gliding (or stumbling) along, right down the middle of the streets. I'll never forget.

Ran into Greg Fossum at the Lowertown Blues and Funk Festival over the weekend while enjoying a set by Tommy Castro. We exchanged anecdotes about running (occasionally), and he said he still gets on skates over at Braemar. Noticed he has not signed in to this web site, unfortunately, but it sounded to me as if he lives in the Twin Cities.

Hi Bill/Willow. I still have the scars on my upper left arm from one of your birthday parties back in the grade school days. Everyone was goofing around (hard to believe) and I fell through a glass window between your porch and living room. Stitches were required! I think I missed out on the cake.
